At its heart, this blog is an outlet. A means to share thoughts and ideas around ranging topics that are of personal interest to me. As an enthusiast of the sometimes incongruous worlds of business, technology, arts, gaming and politics… I can only imagine that at a high level, this blog will appear to be “a nonharmonious or discordant group of sounds” at its very best/worst.
ABOUT ME:
On the professional side, you might call me a sales purist. That might seem a bit of a stretch, given I’m still in my 20’s, but I feel very “old school” in a lot of ways.
The bulk of my professional experience has been in the call center industry, focused on business to business lead generation, appointment setting, and event recruitment efforts. Despite the shifting paradigms and evolution of marketing to include online search and social media networks, I’m still a huge personal fan of cold calling.
I have yet to find a sales “experience” that can challenge the feeling of reaching out to executives and other professionals, hosting a needs-oriented business conversation and ultimately driving to a mutual understanding and potentially beneficial next steps.
I never expected to find myself in love with the sales profession, but here I am after nearly a decade in the industry, still enamored with it.
I pursued post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering, trying to apply my analytical side, and my affinity for math & physics. After working in the engineering department of a mining company for a summer term, I knew I was heading down the wrong path and “opted out” of my degree half-way through.
To make the rent I got a job in a call center, started making cold calls for a living, and the rest is history. These days, I design and develop outsourced business solutions for OnPath Business Solutions, working with customers at a strategic and business planning level to build “Business Conversation Programs” that refine the way that our clients can connect with their customers and prospects.
